Code of Conduct

All members must accept the Oxford Cricket Club code of conduct and honour code, as well as the codes of conduct of the ECB, Oxfordshire Cricket Board, Cherwell Cricket League, Home Counties Premier Cricket League and the Home Counties Women’s Cricket League.

The parent, carer or guardian of a youth member automatically becomes a member of the club on accepted registration via the club website and payment of the relevant subscription and takes the responsibility on behalf of their child in respect of our code of conduct and honour code.

Oxford Cricket Club is a CASC (Community Amateur Sports Club) and is led and run by volunteers. All members are expected to support the Club by volunteering their time as much as is practicable.

As a member of Oxford Cricket Club, you are expected to abide by the following code of conduct:

All members must respect the rights, dignity and worth of all participants.

All members will respect the beliefs, culture, dignity and rights of others, regardless of gender, ability, cultural background or religion as well as their right to privacy and confidentiality.

Language in spoken or written form that is seen as pejorative, discriminatory or racist is prohibited. Any act that belittles, demeans or humiliates another’s culture, race or religion is prohibited.

Members must pay any fees for subscriptions, training or events promptly.

All members must play and/or support within the laws of the game and respect officials and their decisions.

Members must not show dissent at the umpire’s decision or react in a provocative or disapproving manner towards another player or a spectator.

Members shall not use crude and/or abusive language (known as “sledging”), nor make offensive gestures or hand signals, nor deliberately distract an opponent.

Members shall not use or in any way be concerned in the use or distribution of illegal drugs.
Members shall not make any public or media comment which is detrimental to the club, umpires, league or otherwise brings the game into disrepute. This includes any comment made on social media platforms, whether publicly accessible or not. Any request for comment from an external agency should be directed to the club committee.

Members must wear suitable kit for training sessions and matches, as agreed with the coach/captain/team manager and must be respectful of their own and others property.
It is the club’s recommendation that all members of all ages should follow ECB directives on the use of helmets/head protectors.

Youth (U18) members must follow ECB directives on the use of helmets/head protectors at all times. In accordance with ECB advice, no parental consent to the non-wearing of a head protector will be accepted.

Youth (U18) members are not allowed to smoke or consume alcohol or drugs of any kind on the club premises or whilst representing the club.

Members should inform coaches, team managers and team captains of their availability, at least one week before the forthcoming match via the club app.

Members who do not update their availability on the club app will not be considered for selection.

Members should keep to agreed timings for training and matches or inform their coach, team manager or captain if they are going to be late.
