Beating Aston Rowant CC

Congratulations to our U19 team who beat Aston Rowant CC in the final of the Oxfordshire Cricket U19 league.

The venue was Horspath CC on Sunday 8th September and the U19s first had to win their semi-final against Banbury CC which they did easily by 30 runs in the 16 overs played. 48 in 37 balls from Julian Laird and with the wickets shared amongst the economical bowlers, the Romans moved into the final.

With Cumnor CC losing to Aston Rowant CC in their semi-final, the stage was set for a head to head in the gathering dusk.

Skipper Arthur Baldock chose to bat first and saw his side score well over a run a ball to reach 119/6 with 41 from Will Ashton and 29 in 16 balls from Barney Carey.

Despite a quick 46 from captain, Tristan Rossouw, Rowant could only reach 98 in their 16 overs and with Alfie Smethurst picking up 2 wickets in the final over the win was sealed.
