Celebrating Mental Health Awareness Month

The month of May is Mental Health Awareness Month. As a club we are continuing to take the lead in making a difference to the cricketing community with Disability Cricket starting this week and having had the Youth Academies run for the first time this Spring. It would be great to see this continue throughout the month of May in support of Mental Health Awareness.

To ensure this happens we have reached out to Opening Up Cricket and have formed a partnership with them (more details regarding this coming soon). For those who are not aware of Opening Up Cricket, they are a group of volunteers who spend time with cricket clubs and individuals to help mental wellbeing and suicide prevention in cricket.

The main week for Mental Health Awareness is the week starting May 15 2023.

What we would like to do during this week is to use our ever-growing social media platform to show our support for Mental Health Awareness.

What we need from the OCC Family: If you feel comfortable please record a video of yourself/friends/family saying the following phrase “My name is/We are (state name or family name) and I/we support mental health awareness.”

Please could you send the recording to info@oxfordcricketclub.com or via WhatsApp to Dylan Swanepoel.

More details will be shared in the coming weeks regarding what we are going to be doing with Opening Up Cricket during week of May 15, throughout the summer and in the future years to continue to make OCC a safe space for all.

If you have any questions or would like to be involved in any form please contact the club here.
