Oxford CC Women kick off season with 2 wins!

Oxford CC Women had a great start to the season with the inaugural matches of the Home Counties Women’s Cricket League Super 8’s Competition.  This is an 8 aside pairs, 16 overs competition where everyone has to bat and everyone is encouraged to bowl.  The score starts on 200 and three runs lost for every wicket taken.
In the first game v Thame – Thame made 267 for the loss of 5 wickets.  Laura Jacob and Ridhi Kashyap each took 2 wickets.  We were a little rusty with the bat – Hanna Jaadla (12) and Chris Jesty (10) top scored but we held our nerve and finished on 272 with the loss of 5 wickets.
Second match v Deddington.  We batted first, some of the rust had worn off and we finished on 302 for the loss of 3 wickets.  Top scorers were Ridhi Kashyap (27) and Rebecca Lloyd (15) and Laura Jacob held her form and took a further two wickets.  Deddington finished on 241 for 6 wickets.
Match 1: Laura Jacobs (capt), Camilla Charles, Katie Harrison, Hanna Jaadla, Chris Jesty,  Ridhi Kashyap, Rebecca Lloyd, Rosalyn Porter.
Match 2: Laura Jacobs (capt), Alice Crystal, Katie Harrison, Hanna Jaadla, Ridhi Kashyap, Rebecca Lloyd, Nashwa Shah, Numa Shah.
Many thanks to Chris Harrison for umpiring.
Next Sunday we look forward to hosting the next round when we play Charlbury and Thame at Jordan Hill.
