Oxford Cricket Club and The Swan School are pleased to announce a new partnership aimed at encouraging more girls and boys to experience and enjoy the game.
The Swan School in Marston is the first new secondary school in Oxford for nearly 60 years and has already built an enviable reputation for encouraging every child to reach their full potential.
Key to the partnership is OCC’s commitment to provide discounts to Swan students new to cricket for club membership, match fees and holiday cricket camps.
In addition, the club will run some free extra-curricular coaching sessions at the school.
PE Teacher, Luke Quarterman said, “We are excited to be joining forces with Oxford Cricket Club. We are keen that as many of our students as possible get a chance to experience cricket. Removing some of the barriers of entry to the sport that this partnership will help to achieve is a great start.”
Arthur Muir, OCC Director of Youth Cricket, added, “We have been looking at ways we can get more girls and boys involved in the game for some time and especially students from state schools. I was such a student and if we’d had a partnership like this back then it would have encouraged plenty more cricketers from my school. Being able to help kids from the local community try and then hopefully continue in the game for years to come is something we are pleased to support.”
